Adele Diamond Obituary

Adele Ruth Diamond, age 91, of Highland Park, Illinois passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. Born on September 6, 1933 in Flint, Michigan to the late Henry and Julia Frank. Adele was a lover of the arts, a devoted and loving wife, mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother, with an unwavering commitment to the people and causes she loved.

Adele’s early years were filled with a passion for the arts, performing professional ballet at the University of Illinois Chicago. Adele met a persistent young man at a beach in downtown Chicago who would later become the love of her life, Norman Diamond. Their love would build the foundation for which all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren would be nurtured.

Adele was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, the centerpiece of the Diamond Family. She was present in all of their lives, always ready to lend a hand or offer words of encouragement, participating in school field trips or events, Adele was always devoting her time to those that she loved.

Adele always carried a soft spot for her animal friends. With her friend Gertrude Maxwell, Adele co-founded Save-a-Pet in Lake County, Illinois, where she dedicated her time to rescuing and transporting animals to no-kill shelters. She expressed her love for animals with many of her own dogs, the largest and largest personalities with multiple Irish WolfHounds and Giant Schnauzers throughout her many years.

Adele found joy in the simple part of life: morning walks with her best friend, Dee, around Northbrook Court, her winters spent with her love in Weston Florida, and spending time in Texas surrounded by Irish WolfHounds and her dear friend Sue. Her generosity lit up everywhere she went. Her homemade blankets were a gift of love, but her gift of flashlights was her way of guiding others through the dark. Those who knew Adele will remember her for gentle nature, her willingness to help others, and her ever-positive attitude that followed her forever.

Adele was preceded in death by her dear brother, Rocky (Kay) Frank, beloved husband, Norman Diamond, and her sons Bradley and Gary (Cheryl) Diamond. She is survived by her daughter, Lori (Michael) Isaacs, and her son Stephen (Betsy) Diamond. Adele was the proud grandmother of Dustin (Karla) Diamond, Elisabeth (Kevin) Conrad, Kimberly (Christopher) Erwin, Amanda and Michelle (Robert) Isaacs, Alex (Ashley) Diamond and Bryan (Shelly) Diamond. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Jack, Nicholas, and Atlas Diamond and numerous other family members, friends, and especially animals who adored her.

Adele’s Legacy will live on through her Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, and through the countless lives of animals who she loved and rescued.
