Ana Ibis Gil
With much sadness we announce the death of our beloved Ana Ibis Gil (Borges) on November 8th, 2024 in Libertyville IL at the young age of 55. Round Lake Beach IL resident, lovingly known as Ana, Anita and Ani, was born in Havana Cuba on March 19th, 1969 to Andres and Emily Borges. Weighing only 3 pounds and a quarter, tiny in size yet with lots of personality and spirit. Together with her big sister Mercy, they came to the United States on June 23rd, 1971 and settled in the city of Maywood IL.
At that time, Ani was only 2-3 years old when she committed her first innocent childhood blunder in which she flooded a doll store located downstairs on the bottom floor of their apartment. The store owner arrived one day to find his dolls floating around his store. That was Ani’s first flooding but certainly not her last. In her teen years, driving home in her parents Ford Granada, taking the same and only familiar route, she decided to ignore Road Closed signs left by the police. Road closure due to the Des Plaines river overflowing onto the road. She soon found out the car would not be floating similarly to the dolls in her childhood.
Even greater than her innocent childhood blunders, was her love for God, family and deep-rooted care to always protect those she loved. Ani made it her life mission to protect her younger sister Arlene from the day she was born just a few years after the family arrived in this country. Always fiercely protective as a lioness protects her little cubs.
At 18 years of age in 1987, she graduated from Proviso East High School in Maywood IL. She took every opportunity to serve God by singing, praying and being involved with her Church. During that time, she met her best friend, Antonio Gil. After a long and loving relationship, they were married on August 31st, 1996. The biggest desire of her heart was to be a mother. God granted her this wish on October 20th, 2003, with the birth of her child Andre Amaris Gil. Always selflessly putting her child before herself, she never tired of working or sacrificing to provide all that she could with love and devotion.
Ani was an exemplary mother, dedicated wife, loving daughter, protective sister, caring aunt and fierce child of God. Always giving to others, cheerful and happy, strong, compassionate, hardworking, may the Lord our God have you resting peacefully in his arms. We have faith that you are reunited with all our loved ones that have passed before us and with Honey-bun, your furry little bunny bestie. Until the Lord reunites us again, we will miss you immensely.
The celebration of life for Ana Ibis Gil will be held Saturday November 16, 2024 at Symonds Lakes Funeral Home located at 111 W Belvidere Road, Grayslake IL 60030 from 12:00pm – 3:00pm
