Andrea Marie (Thompson) Baczek

Andrea Marie Baczek, age 79, of Cocoa Beach, Florida formerly of Heather Ridge in Gurnee, Grayslake, and a longtime resident of Round Lake passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Born on October 7, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, Andrea was the second of four children born to William and Leona Thompson. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family, church, and community.

Andrea and her beloved husband, Jan, founded the Jandrea Corporation, growing a single Andrea’s Beauty Shop into five successful Jandee Salons across Lake County, Illinois. Her legacy lives on in the confidence and beauty she brought to others through her work. A devoted member of St. Gilbert’s Catholic Church for 47 years, Andrea’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life.

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends. Andrea had a gift for making everyone feel welcome where her home and kitchen was always open. Her warmth, generosity, candor, and spirited personality left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Andrea is survived by her six children: William Baczek of Round Lake Park; Dennise Porter of Lindenhurst; Deanna (Peter) Kratochvil of Hawthorn Woods; Todd (Trish) Baczek of Green Oaks; Jan (Miranda) Baczek of Grayslake; Elizabeth Baczek of South Carolina.

She was the proud and loving grandmother of 13: J.J. (Kristin), Karsyn, Isabella (Josh), Andrea, Briar, Shamus, Chase, Grace, Caleb, William, Bailee, Addison, and Avery.

She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Witwicki of Lake Villa; her nieces and nephews: Matthew, Patrick (Carolyn), Valerie Witwicki; Marc (Karen) Thompson; Dena, Thomas, and Magan Thompson; and a host of cousins and dear friends.

Andrea was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jan; her parents, William and Leona; her brothers, Scott Thompson and Thomas Thompson; her sister-in-law, Sandra Thompson; and her nephew, Robert Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Symonds Lakes Funeral Home, 111 West Belvidere Road, Grayslake.
On Monday, August 4, 2025 visitation will continue from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gilbert’s Catholic Church.
Andrea will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Cemetery immediately following the service.
