Angelina Tognarelli Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Angelina Tognarelli announces her passing on January 8, 2025, at the age of 94 in Highland Park, Illinois. Born in Piandelagotti, Modena Italy on May 11, 1930, to the union of Dario Bulgarelli and Elena (Zanni) Bulgarelli. She was a loving sister to the late Carlo Alberto Bulgarelli. Angelina was the beloved wife of Aldo Tognarelli for 77 years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, known for her strength, warmth, and unyielding love for her family.

Angelina and Aldo’s journey together began on April 17, 1947, when they were married in Italy. Their shared commitment and deep bond carried them through a lifetime of challenges and joys. In October 1955, they made the brave decision to leave their homeland and immigrate to the United States in search of better opportunities. After arriving in New York City, they worked as tailors in the garment district, skillfully crafting suits and coats together. Their hard work and determination were evident in everything they did.

In search of a better life, the young couple moved to Highwood, IL just seven months later, where they would raise their five devoted children and become an integral part of their community.

Angelina was the cherished mother of Silvana (Joseph) Pieracci of Lincolnshire, Gilbert (Mary) Tognarelli of Vernon Hills, Gisella (Luciano) Lamberti of Deerfield, Maury (Dina) Tognarelli of Chicago, and Robert Tognarelli (Courtney Maher) of Fountain Hills, Arizona. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother who took immense joy in her family, nurturing them with love, guidance, and a lifelong commitment to their happiness and well-being. Fond grandmother to 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild.

A loving matriarch, Angelina’s life was one of resilience, devotion, and kindness. She will be remembered for her deep faith, unwavering dedication to her family, and her strong sense of community. Angelina’s passing comes just over a month after the death of her beloved husband Aldo, who passed away on November 27, 2024. Together, they built a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

Angelina’s family takes comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with Aldo and that their love and devotion to one another will forever be a guiding light for those left behind. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the National PKU Alliance.
