It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Angelo Ori, 75, of Highwood, Illinois, who passed away on January 19, 2025, at Highland Park Hospital. Born on November 8, 1949, in Sant Anna Pellago, Modena, Italy, Angelo was the son of the late Michele and Giuseppina (Turelli) Ori.
Angelo served in the Italian Army in the Military Police and worked as a bricklayer in Italy. He immigrated to the United States in 1973, settling in Highwood, Illinois. That same year, on November 17, he married Daniela Facchini at St. James Church, beginning a life together full of love, family, and shared memories.
In the U.S., Angelo continued his craft as a bricklayer, working with Fabbri Masonry and Fernando Masonry. He was well known for his dedication to his work and the quality of his craftsmanship. He was also an active member of the Highwood Bocce Ball Club, the Modenese Society, and the former Giovani Italia Club.
A man of many passions, Angelo was an accomplished cross-country skier who participated in numerous races and tournaments. He enjoyed the thrill of hunting, competing in skeet and pheasant shooting, and cherished the annual tradition of smelt fishing in Lake Michigan with family and friends.
Angelo is survived by his former wife, Daniela; his two sons, Michael Ori of Highwood and Brian (Anna Paula) Ori of Chicago; his brother, Corrado (Gisella) Ori, and his sister, Loredana (Giuseppe) Giannasi, both of Sant Anna Pellago, Italy. He is also survived by three nieces, Simona Ori, and Michaela and Denise Giannasi.
Funeral services are private, and interment will take place in Sant Anna Pellago, Modena, Italy.
Angelo’s legacy of hard work, devotion to his family, and love for life will be forever remembered by all who knew him.
