Antonietta DeBellis, 92, of Highwood was called to the Lord on October 2, 2022. She was born on January 7, 1930 in Valenzano, Italy and was the middle child of three born to the union of Domenica Leuzzi and Antonio Lorusso. She and her family immigrated to the United States in September of 1970. Her experience as a seamstress since the age of 17 enabled her to get a job in the alterations department of Zengeler Cleaners within days of arriving to the states followed by a 20 year long career at Neiman Marcus as one of their head seamstresses. Not only did Antonietta take great joy in mending and making clothing but she also enjoyed cooking, baking, and crafting. She was the quintessential old world Nonna whose priorities were her family, feeding her family and church.
Antonietta was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Pasquale DeBellis. She is survived by her children Maria (Mike) Bruno and Tony (Maria) DeBellis; she was the cherished Nonna of Francesca (Aaron) Meder, Sam Bruno, Tonia (Jeff) Semler, and Isa (Darren) Bank; proud big Nonna of Michael and Ava Meder, Isabella and Anthony Semler, and Carter and Sophia Bank; dear sister of Pasquina Agostinelli; Zia and Bis Zia of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation Thursday, October 6, 2022 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral mass 10:00 A.M. at Saint James Church, 134 North Avenue, Highwood, Illinois Rev. Hernan Cuevas, celebrant. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery and Mausoleum, 700 North River Road, Des Plaines, Illinois.
