Ariana Andrea Salguero

Ariana Andrea Salguero, 22 of Round Lake Beach, IL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family May 21, 2021, She was born February 28, 1999 in New York, NY, Despite her diagnosis, Ariana has continued to amaze us all with her courage and determination. On top of being an all-around amazing human being, Ariana graduated from Vassar College, continued her work mentoring students, and adopted a new puppy — all while navigating her illness during a global pandemic.

Anyone who has met Ariana knows what a remarkably warm and bright presence she brings into any room. Ariana always goes above and beyond to take care of those around her, and has inspired us all with her heart and generosity. Aside from being a loving sister and loyal friend, Ariana always makes a conscious effort to engage with the communities around her. While at Vassar, Ariana founded VUELA, an after-school program to support local middle school students as they prepare for high school and college. During this difficult time of transition, we hope that we can carry on her spirit by continuing to take care of her loved ones.

Ariana grew up in Round Lake, Illinois, where she lives with her parents, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins. In the spring of 2020, Ariana graduated from Vassar College with a double major in Anthropology and Latin American Studies. Ariana loves spending time with her friends and family, dancing, baking, and reminding everyone that she skipped a grade in elementary school. Starting from reading the dictionary for fun as a kid, Ariana has always been known for her wit and intelligence. Ariana is also fiercely loyal and never afraid to stand up for herself or others in the face of injustice. If you've ever met Ariana, you've experienced the immense impact that she has on those around her.
