Avelina Mercado Bolton

Avelina Mercado Bolton, age 91 of Lake Forest, Illinois passed away from natural causes at home surrounded by her family on Friday August 19, 2022. She was born April 23, 1931 in Cebu, Philippines, the 5th child of 8 born to the union of Pablo and Marcelina Mercado. During WW II, the island of Cebu was occupied by the Japanese and the family lived in caves just to survive and after the war thrived.  Avelina immigrated to the United States in 1956 to attend Colombia University in New York where she received a Master's degree in Social Work. She worked for the Head Start school program in Milwaukee and for M&I Bank in Milwaukee.  Avelina was a beautiful lady, always happy and smiling. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick Church, Lake Forest.  Her priorities in life were her love of God, her church and her family. They all were her greatest joy.

Beloved mother of Kim (late Jamie) Ozias of Middletown, OH and Karen (Jeff) Pinderski of Lake Forest, IL. Loving nana of Matthew (Julie) Borchlewicz of Chelsea, MI, Lauren Pinderski of Chicago, IL and Austin Pinderski of Durham, NC. Dear sister of the late Eduardo (Beatrice) Mercado, the late Corazon Mercado, the late Amparo Mercado, the late Ursula (Manuel Sr.) Suico, the late Manuel (Julieta) Mercado, the late Sister Maria Lourdes Mercado- Daughters of Charity, and Ofelia Mercado. She will also be missed by her favorite dog Belle.

Visitation Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral mass at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Church, (Main Church), 991 S. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest, IL Msgr. Robert J. Dempsey, celebrant. Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Lake Forest, IL.  In lieu of flowers masses appreciated.
