Brian Kenneth Koopmann "Hunter", age 63, of Highwood, Illinois, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. Brian was born on September 18, 1961, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to the first born to Bob and Karen (Hunter) Koopmann.
He attended Highland Park High School class of 1979, Brian was known for his boundless energy and unmatched skill set. He was a true "jack of all trades" with a talent for everything from plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry, to roofing, siding, and janitorial services. As the owner of his own business, Koopmann Construction and Hunter the Hammer Services, Brian took pride in helping others, always quick to lend a hand and eager to tackle any project. His work ethic and commitment to his craft were evident in every job he took on.
In addition to his work in construction, Brian had a passion for the unique, even taking on stunt work for the movie Heaven Is Hell. He was a true adventurer at heart, always ready to try something new and embrace life with a sense of humor and enthusiasm that those around him admired. Brian was a lover of all animals and enjoyed playing golf, working out in the gym and bowling. He was a good friend of Bill and Bob.
Brian is survived by his beloved parents, Bob and Karen Koopmann of Highwood; his dear brother, Robert Koopmann of Highland Park; and his loving sister, Michelle Harding (the late Scott) of Pensacola, Florida. He was a fond uncle to Melissa, Stephanie, Christina, and Kai, and a proud great uncle to Dominic Joseph, Jackson Keith, Tripp Owen, Winter Lou, Lucie Ramona, Mia Grace, Emmylou Kaye. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and a friend to all. His precious friend Shelley Resnick of Gurnee. He is preceded in death by a brother Keith Andrew on May 30, 2009.
Visitation Monday, February 3, 2025 from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service 10:30 AM at Christ Church Lake Forest, 100 North Waukegan Road (Coroner of IL RT. 43 and Rt. 60) Lake Forest. A reception will follow the service in the church foyer. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lake Forest following the reception. In honoring Brian’s spirit, his family invites those who knew him to remember his legacy of hard work, kind-heartedness, and the joy he brought to those around him.
