Everything has it time. To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heavens. A time to be born and a time to die.

Carl Wilson Thompson, age 89, was born November 23, 1931 in Chester County, South Carolina and transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 5:17 pm at his home in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Bennie and Eva (Horsely) Thompson.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edna, and four siblings - two sisters, Eva Mae Thompson Holloway, Ida Ruth Thompson Brown, two brothers, Joe Lewis and Luther Ezell Thompson.

Carl served many years as a sergeant in the United States Army which included tour of duty in Germany and Japan.  He also received a Letter of Commendation for his Sense of Duty, Enthusiasm and Inspiring Leadership.

Carl worked if Food Service and received a Certificate of Completion from the Chicago, Illinois Restaurant Association.  He later worked in retail as a salesman in the jewelry business.

Carl was a member of Harvest Christian Center Church in Chicago, Illinois with Pastor AJ serving as Senior Pastor.  Carl loved his church and enjoyed singing with the Men's Choir.

His favorite past time was fishing for salmon in Lake Michigan with church members and friends and texting on his cell phone.  His favorite songs were "I Know I've Been Changed" and "God Is My Everything".

He leaves to remember him and share fond memories, four siblings, Bennie James (Mary Frances) Thompson of Charlotte, NC, King David Thompson of Chester, SC, Margie Ann Thompson Worthy of Huntersville, NC and Lydia Yevettte Thompson (Minister Harry) Roseboro of Charlotte, NC. Stepchildren, Clifford Taylor II, James Bryant and Wyhma (Sylvanus) Thompson all of Dayton Beach, Florida. Step grandson, Clifford Taylor III who FaceTimed "Daddy Carl", eight additional grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren, sister-in-law Minnie Williams, brother-in-law Abraham Williams, Jr. a host of nieces, nephews, special friends and his housekeeper of seven years, Angie Sitters-White.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Harvest Christian Center, 4020 N. Tripp Ave., Chicago, Illinois at 2:00 P.M. Pastor AJ, Senior Pastor officiating.

A second memorial service will be held in Charlotte, NC at a later date.
