Carl Wilkins Obituary

Carl Andrew Wilkins "Butch" age 74 a lifelong resident of Lake County, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024 at his home in Grayslake, Illinois. He was born July 8, 1949 in Highland Park, Illinois and was raised in Prairie View, the second child of six born to the union of Carl and Frances (Gassler) Wilkins. He attended Half Day Elementary School and graduated from Adlai E. Stevenson High School, class of 1967. After high school he served in the US Army in Vietnam. After his discharge from the Army he worked for 10 years as a mechanic for the Northbrook Garage. For 40 years he worked as a roofer for Herion Roofing in Libertyville and at the same time he also partnered with his brother John founding the Prairie Road Lawn Mower Repair from 1988 until 2005. After retirement Carl enjoyed life and family.  In Carl's younger days he would be found drag racing at the Great Lakes Drag Way in Union Grove, Wisconsin and stock raced at the Waukegan Speed Way or just working on cars. In later years he would be found hunting and fishing in Wyoming "his happy place."

Beloved life partner of 41 years, Tami Golladay of Grayslake. Loving father of Nicole Golladay (Reggie Michel) of Raleigh, NC, Betty Jo Golladay of Grayslake and Tiffany Golladay (John Griffel) of Prairie View. Fond grandfather of Logan, Mikayla, Jaydin, Jaxon, Zane, Cheyenne, Charli, Braydin and the late Paxton Griffel.  Dear brother of Ruth (late Marvin) Winsky of Round Lake, the late Mark Wilkins, Sheila Vickers of Round Lake, Margaret Kropp of Round Lake and John (Tracey) Wilkins of McHenry. Fond uncle of 11.

Memorial visitation Saturday, February 3, 2024 from Noon until time of memorial service 3:00 PM. Military Honors following at 3:30 PM at the Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood. Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers contributions to Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Wounded Warrior Project or Planting of a tree in Carl's memory would be appreciated.
