Della Rae (Swenson) Leggett

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Della Rae Leggett (Swenson) of Grayslake, IL at the age of 65 on Saturday, January 25th, 2026 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born on March 23rd, 1960 in Mountain Home, ID. She was the only daughter of Raymond and Eileen Swenson. She met the love of her life, Lee Leggett, while he was stationed in Mountain Home with the United States Air Force. From there the two moved to Lees’ hometown Plattsburgh, New York to start a family. The family of four then moved to the northern suburbs of Chicago, IL where they welcomed two more boys into the world. Della was the heart and soul of the Leggett family. Her compassion and love for all of those around her was boundless and she never failed to show just how much she loved her family.

For fun you could find Della watching her Chicago Cubs on the television as she was an extremely dedicated fan, barely missing a game all season. Hearing her sing “Go Cubs Go” could be heard throughout the household after a big Cubs win. She found joy and happiness in being with her husband, kids and grandkids and never failed to make any of them smile. Della impacted many lives and she will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved her. "Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure."

Della is survived by her husband of 45 years, Lee Leggett of Grayslake, IL, her children: Michael (Shelly) Bedard of Plattsburgh, NY, Derek (Jill Buljubasic) Leggett of Oak Creek, WI, the late Crystal Leggett Pranger, Nicholas (Keri) Leggett of Round Lake Beach, and Austin Leggett of Grayslake. Her grandchildren; Aiden, Ava, Charlotte, Olivia, Noah, Mason, Caleb, Connor, Nathaniel, Reese, Gwen, Cooper, and Lance. She was preceded in death by her brothers David (Wanda) Swenson, Doug Swenson of Mountain Home, ID and her parents Raymond and Eileen Swenson.

A memorial service for Della and Crystal will be held Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the Living Waters Assembly of God 525 N. Atkinson Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030, a visitation and gathering will start at 5:00 PM with memorial service at 6:00 PM with refreshments at 7:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers and/or donations in c/o to the Leggett family.
