Dominic Peter ("Mico") Ugolini

Dominic Peter Ugolini, affectionately known as "Mico," of Highland Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Highland Park Hospital. He was 90 years old.

Mico was born on July 14, 1936, in Highland Park, Illinois, to Marco and Barbara (Pighetti) Ugolini. A lifelong resident of the area, he attended Oak Terrace School and St. James School before graduating from Highland Park High School with the Class of 1955.

Following high school, Mico proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enlisted on February 9, 1957, served overseas in Germany, attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4), and was honorably discharged on February 4, 1959.

On September 10, 1960, he married the love of his life, Laura Bernardi, at St. James Church in Highwood. Together they built a loving home and raised a devoted family over more than six decades of marriage.

Mico began his career in the construction industry as a member of the Carpenters Union, working for Birchwood Builders and Zale Builders before establishing his own successful business, Dominic Ugolini Construction Company. Known for his craftsmanship, integrity, and strong work ethic, he took great pride in every project he completed and in the lasting relationships he built throughout his career.

A proud veteran and active member of the community, Mico belonged to the former Highwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4741, the North Shore American Legion Post 738, the former Cuore D'Arte Club, the Highwood Bocce Ball Club, and was a lifelong member of the Modenese Society. He cherished his Italian heritage, enjoyed spending time with friends, and especially treasured every moment shared with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Laura Ugolini; his sons, Mark Ugolini of Deerfield and Dominic (Rebecca) Ugolini Jr. of Highwood; and his daughter, Barbara (Christopher) Cizek of Highwood. He was the proud and loving nonno of Talia (Mikayla) Mitzen of Wheeling, Matthew of Glenview, Shayli of Deerfield, Dominic III "Nico" (Isabelle) of Highland Park, Alex of Highland Park, Isabella of Highland Park, Brittany (Christopher) Degl'Innocenti of Grayslake, and Christopher Cizek of Lake Forest. He was also the cherished bis-nonno of Roman Peter Ugolini and Ryan and Connor Degl'Innocenti.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., and again on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of prayers at 9:30 a.m. at Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Our Hope Parish, St. James Church, 134 North Avenue, Highwood, with the Reverend Hernan Cuevas officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Misericordia Heart of Mercy would be greatly appreciated.

Mico will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his pride in his work, his service to his country, and the kindness and friendship he shared with all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply and the community he helped build throughout his remarkable life.
