Dwayne Huff passed away peacefully at home in the company of family. He died peacefully in his sleep, knowing his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, would be taking him to his permanent, eternal home to be with Him for eternity. He loved to worship the Lord through singing and dancing, telling others about Jesus, and how God has helped him through his many trials and illnesses.
Dwayne was blessed with a wife and son, whom he loved and cherished very much. He enjoyed calling his wife Gorgeous and his son Champ. From the first time he laid his eyes on his wife until he died many years later, he was never able to take his eyes off of her. He had his wife and son in his heart at all times as his treasures from the Lord, and he always lived his life treating them like his treasures.
Another love of Dwayne was sports. He loved baseball, basketball, and football in that order. He often said baseball was his first love from a young age, and as an adult, he called any fan of his favorite team a part of his family. As a young child, he played baseball with his brothers every day. Even when there was snow on the ground, they would shovel the snow away, just to be able to play. He had his share of breaking windows and being bitten by dogs during games.
Dwayne found Jesus as his Savior and Lord while at the library by someone who asked him, “Do you want to know Jesus?” Dwayne figured he had nothing else to lose since his life was going nowhere fast. With Jesus being his Savior, Dwayne had the assurance that he would go to heaven one day after he had died on this earth. Jesus saved him from eternal punishment in hell by dying in Dwayne’s place on the cross. This is something that Jesus wants everyone to have. We only have to accept that Jesus is the only One who can give us eternal life with Him in heaven. All other ways will lead to destruction and eternal punishment in hell because we’ve all been separated from God through sin. Even the tiniest white lie is a sin. All we have to do to have eternal life with God is to accept that we’ve sinned and that we need Him to forgive our sins by believing that Jesus is the only way to forgiveness because he died on the cross to take our place in hell. Then we have to turn our lives around and follow Jesus as our Lord, doing what pleases Him and no longer what pleases ourselves and other people. Dwayne accepted Jesus as his own Savior and Lord in his early 20’s, and has been blessed in so many ways by God through all his years of life. There were still some rough roads and hard times, but he often said that our joy does not depend on our circumstances. Our joy comes from knowing Jesus and having a personal relationship with Him.
