Edna Van Deusen Obituary

Edna Elizabeth Van Deusen
December 27, 1923 – September 16, 2026

Edna Elizabeth Van Deusen, 102, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026. She was born on December 27, 1923, in Centerville, Iowa, to Louis Nicolazzi and Marie Aggazone. One of five children, Edna grew up surrounded by family and carried those cherished family bonds throughout her life.

On March 9, 1957, Edna married Frederick Van Deusen in Waukegan, Illinois. Frederick was a sailor stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base. Together, they built a life centered around family and shared many treasured years until his passing on July 15, 1995.

Edna was a hardworking woman who spent much of her career serving her community. She worked at Christoffs Dime Store in Glencoe and later at Billies Dress Shop in Highwood, where she remained until her retirement.

Faith was also an important part of Edna's life. She was an active and devoted member of the Evangelical Congregational Church, now known as Christ Church Highland Park. Her faith and connection to her church community were a meaningful part of her life.

Her greatest joy was her family. Edna was the loving mother of Patricia M. Stone and a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for the love she gave to each generation of her family and for the memories they created together.

Edna is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frederick Van Deusen; her parents, Louis Nicolazzi and Marie Aggazone; and her siblings, Anita (late Tom) Roach, Dorothy (late Donald) Spradlin, Dora Books, and Lena (late Frank) Drew.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia M. (Bill) Stone; her grandchildren, Kathleen Stone, Lisa (Joe) Litviak, and Steve(Sara) Stone; her great-grandchildren, Caleigh Stone, Delaney Stone, and Kevin Trabert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna's long life was marked by faith, family, devotion, and hard work. She treasured the people she loved and the relationships she built throughout her 102 years. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her, and her memory will live on through the generations of family she leaves behind.
