Eric Bruce Weeder, 72, of McHenry, IL passed away peacefully Monday, March 27th, 2023 in his home. He is survived by his son Calvin (Kelsey) and anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first grandson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 19 years, Susan, his parents; Bruce and Margaret Weeder
Eric was born August 7, 1950 in Ramsey, NJ to the union of Bruce and Margaret Weeder. He joined the Marine Corps in 1969 and served as Lance Corporal in the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged and awarded a Purple Heart in 1970. Eric attended UofM, Duluth, served as a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Rescue Diver and worked as a trader for the Chicago Board of Trade. He and Susan met through a shared passion for their work and were united in marriage on Feb. 14th, 1981.
An avid outdoorsman, Eric was a talented and highly awarded skeet shooter. He was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Northbrook Sports Club, and a proud Marine. He will be remembered for his incredible loyalty, generosity, and dependability as a father and friend.
Visitation will be held 10:00am-noon, Monday, April 3rd 2023 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 24500 N Old McHenry Rd, Hawthorn Woods. Funeral service at 12:00 noon officiated by Rev. Edward Blonski. Interment with military honors to follow at the St. Matthew’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends will gather for lunch and fellowship at the Weeder residence following the ceremony.
