Ethel Lee Mallard was born in Hollandale, Mississippi on January 7, 1945 to the union of Herbert Mallard, Sr. and Earnestine Tillman Mallard. She passed away at home in Chicago, Illinois on December 9, 2022 at the age of 77. Ethel went to school in Jackson, Mississippi at the School For Deaf and graduated with her high school diploma in 1969. After graduating she had a passion for the children at her previous school and was hired to teach sign language. She loved working with the kids more than anything and worked there for many years. In 2001 Ethel came to Chicago where she helped raise 3 generations of her family. She adored helping raise all the nieces and nephews and always knew how to take care of them best. If you knew Ethel, you know she loved Coca Cola, rice, fish, and washing clothes more than anything. She enjoyed gardening with her mother. She was also known to be the most caring, loving, and always kind person.
Ethels love and legacy will be remembered through her siblings; Thomas (Edream) Mallard, Willean (Lorenzo) Jackson, Jeweline (Roy) Williams, and Rosemary (Roger) Chandler all of Chicago, IL, Jacqueline Mallard Foster of Jackson, MS and Alissa (Andrew) Thomas of Snellville, GA. Ethel leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents Herbert Mallard, Sr. and Earnestine Tillman Mallard. Her siblings Richard, Herbert Jr., Charles Sr., Samuel Quincy, Leonard Earl and also her special aunt Jewel Emery.
