Garry Jay Stefany, age 64 of Grayslake passed away peacefully Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. He was born June 29, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Richard Arthur and Margueritte Lucille (Katzel) Stefany. As a boy Garry and his family were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park. He graduated from Willowbrook High School, class of 1974 and while in high school he worked for the Dominick's Grocery Store starting as a stock boy and retired from the company as a department manager after 35 years of faithful service. On June 24, 1983 Garry married Barbara Ann Silliman until her passing in June of 2002. Garry was a man of quiet faith, he regularly read his Bible and was a strong believer in Jesus Christ. After retirement Garry started riding his bicycle to keep in shape, clocking in as many as 100 miles a week. A true son of Chicago he was a devoted Chicago White Sox and Black Hawks fan.
Survivors include his companion of 17 years Claudette Jane Patton of Grayslake. Two brothers Richard W. Stefany of Minoqua, Wisconsin and Terry (Anne) Stefany of Round Rock, Texas. A nephew Brian Stefany of Euless, Texas and 2 nieces Shannon (Aaron) Steen of Schaumburg, Illinois and Erin (Landon) Halley of Batavia, Illinois a great nephew Grayson Halley of Batavia, Illinois and 2 great nieces Lynda and Lea Steen of Schaumburg, Illinois.
He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann and an infant sister Candice Stefany in August of 1949.
A memorial service and interment will be planned for Spring of 2021.
