Gary D. Pezdek

Gary Donald Pezdek, 74, of Wheeling, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 21, 2021 in Highwood, IL.  He was born on June 3, 1947 in Decatur, IL  to the union of John and Gilda (Brown) Pezdek the second of five sons born to that union.  Gary was a quiet and gentle man who's love and devotion to Jesus Christ his Savior was the centermost part of his life.  Gary would surprise many with his vast knowledge of the scriptures and in his later years Gary awakened as a strong man of God, stepping out of his quiet shell and would boldly pray aloud in church and would vocally proclaim Jesus as his savior.  Gary served graciously and faithfully in the church media department from the very beginning and in many other capacities he quietly serve and no one would know, always faithful and without praise from others.  Recently serving as a deacon since 2012 with Grace Worship Center.  The highlight of Gary's life was his 2 week pilgrimage to Israel with his church family in 2007. Tho all of their luggage was lost by the airlines, and the trip back was a disaster with the London Airport being closed down and all flights were cancelled and everyone sleeping on the floor overnight, Gary always had a smile on his face and was a sweet calming presence helping hold his church family together.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Amy Pezdek of Ranson, WV, and two grandchildren; Nicholas Pezdek of Fairfax, VA and Christopher Pezdek of Ranson, WV; his brother, Roger Pezdek of McHenry, IL, and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Gilda (Brown) Pezdek, his father, John Pezdek, and three brothers, Brian, Tom and Johnny.

Visitation Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service 11:00 AM at the Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood. Pastor DeDe Kuhn, officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 700 River Road, Des Plaines, IL.
