George Pieracci

George Pieracci, age 88, of Highland Park, Illinois passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Born on October 31,1937, in Constantine, Algeria, to the union of Pietro and Ida (Ori) Pieracci, He spent his childhood in Nantes, France and Sant'Annapelago, Italy. In 1952, he came to the U.S. at the age of 14. George attended Saint James School in Highwood and Highland Park High School. He worked over 40 years as a skilled electrician and estimator for Aldridge Electric and was a member of the IBEW Local 150.

George married the love of his life, Wilma Vignocchi, on July 14, 1962, at Saint James Church. Together, they built a loving home and raised their family in Highland Park. They were married 45 years.

George was a man of service, always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends, neighbors and his church. A man of deep faith, George was a lifelong parishioner and usher at Saint James Church. He was deeply proud of his Italian heritage, serving as president of the Modenese Society and treasurer of the Highwood Bocce Club. 

George found joy in the simple things: a walk along the lake, a bumper crop of tomatoes, drinks with friends, a game of cards and a shared dance. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and sharing meals and stories with family and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Pietro and Ida Pieracci, and his beloved wife, Wilma. He is survived by his daughters Julienne (Michael) Rosser and Laura (Thomas) Luby. He was the proud Nonno of Emily and Kevin Rosser, Jack (Jenna) Luby, Katherine (Josh) Bertels and great-grandsons Matthew Luby and Benjamin Bertels. George is also survived by his loving sister Anna (Alex) Serafini, brother-in-law Harry (Debra) Vignocchi, nephew Peter Serafini, nieces Stephanie Serafini and Donna (Aaron) Zych, and many dear cousins in the U.S. and in Italy.

George will be remembered for his devotion to family, pride in his work and the kindness and friendship he shared with all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 1, 2026 at Christ Our Hope Parish, Saint James Church, 134 North Avenue Highwood, IL from 8:30 AM until the time of the funeral mass celebration at 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
