Gertrude (Carmichael) Saulmon

Gertrude Saulmon, Nee; Carmichael, 92 of North Chicago, formally of Panama City, FL, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026 in Greenfield, WI. She was born February 22,1934 in Enterprise, AL, she was the second child of five born to the union of Lewis and Margaret Carmichael. 

After graduating Bay High at the age of 18, Gertrude was married to Tindale Airforce airman Robert Marks, they moved north and made their home in North Chicago, IL, She and Robert had 3 children Jimmy, Lynette and Anita. The marriage ended after 21yrs. Several years later Gertrude met and was remarried to Jerry Saulmon, they were married near 30yrs of marriage til Jerry's passing in 2006.  She enjoyed dancing, bowling, golf with Jerry. They together enjoyed time with their friends. Gert was an avid reader and relaxed while she'd crochet afghans for the family. She loved spending time with her family and being a loving grandma. Gertrude is a decendant of the Clan Carmichael, her lines date back to 1400 hundreds in Scotland. She worked many jobs over her lifetime, for 22 years she managed the data processing dept at Lake Forest Hospital where she developed coding for hospital billing which is used all over today. Though being a woman she was never recognized for the code, her then boss (a man) took full credit .

Gertrude is survived by her children; James (Connie) Marks of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Lynette (Dennis Fermenich) Ross of Greenfield, WI, and Anita (the late Randall) Constantino currently of Loxley, AL, her cherished grandchildren; Dustin (Janice) Gehrig, Jennifer (Ryan) McCormick, Erinne (Kyle) Lehman, Merissa (Josh) Trice, and Danielle Marks, her great grandchildren; Reese McCormick, Aiden Lehman, Finley McCormick, Dylan Lehman, and Rosie Torres, her brother; Sam (Julia) Carmichael, sister in law; Beth Carmichael, and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friend Sue Waters, and Sharon Garza. 

Preceded in death by both parents, her late husband Jerry Saulmon,  Sisters; Shirley (the late Robert) Edwards, Margaret (the late Alois) Spaeth, her brother Mack Carmichael and son in law Randall Constantino.

Visitation will be held 11:00 AM until time of chapel service at 1:00 PM at the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home 111 W.
