Gladys Amy Sands

Gladys Amy Sands, 88, of Gurnee, IL and formally of Chicago, IL, passed away April 13, 2022 at the Hillcrest Nursing Center of Round Lake Beach, she was born June 15, 1933 in Des Plaines, Il, and was the oldest of five children born to the union of John and Gladys Bartley, Gladys was a caring and loving mother raising three children and had a tremendous love and talent for painting.

Gladys is survived by her children; the late Daniel Young, James (Dawn) Young of Grayslake, IL and Jeanine (Daniel) Schad of Grayslake, her grandchildren; Tiffany Fraley of Antioch, Brian Schad of Grayslake, Kelly (Tommy) Porter of Grayslake, and Conner Schad of Grayslake, and two great grandchildren; Amari and Mila Fraley of Antioch, her brother; Donald (the late Barbara) Bartley of Honolulu, HI, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, preceded in death by her son; Daniel Young, husband; Ron Sands, sister; Barbara Mahoney, and her brothers Tom Bartley, and John Bartley.

Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home 111 W. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 and also on Wednesday morning at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home until time of funeral mass at St. Gilbert Catholic Church at 11:45 A.M. 301 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment to follow at Arlington Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL, for donation c/o St. Gilbert Memorial Fund, for additional information please contact the funeral home at 847-543-1080.
