Glenn Miller Flagg, 75, of Chicago, Illinois, peacefully passed away on November 19, 2024.
Born on May 23, 1949, in Batesville, Mississippi, Glenn was the cherished son of Mary and Abron Flagg Sr. After moving to Chicago, he attended Manley High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and resilience. Glenn devoted many years to Port Plastic, culminating in a significant tenure with the City of Chicago’s waste management department.
Glenn's generous spirit and unwavering dependability resonated with all who knew him. He shared his life with his loving partner, Linda Powell, until her passing in 2006, a loss that profoundly affected him. In 2017, Glenn married his friend of over 30 years, Warner Ann Williams. Together, they crafted a beautiful life, filled with joy and companionship, until Warner Ann’s passing in 2022.
Glenn found renewed strength and purpose in his faith as a Black Israelite, becoming a member of the Israel of God Temple. His newfound devotion enriched his life and provided him with a deep sense of community.
After retiring in 2017, Glenn fully embraced his love for fishing, often spending time by the water with his siblings and wife. Known for his lively spirit, he loved to dance and was revered for his stylish flair. Glenn brought joy to many, known for his incredible generosity and his rapid-fire wit that left an imprint on everyone around him.
He is predeceased by his beloved parents, Mary and Abron Flagg Sr.; brothers Dorsey, Abron Jr., Ivory, and Larry Flagg; and sister Wilma Stanford, alongside his wife Warner Ann Flagg, and stepchildren Angela Powell, Angela Witherspoon, and Donald Witherspoon.
Glenn is survived by his brothers Levon and John Flagg; sisters Jimmy Grant, MC Flagg, Annie Flagg, Eva Thigpen, Martha Tolefree, Vera Flagg, and Clara Flagg (Donnie Barnum); and stepchildren Tamara Edwards, Dauntrell Powell, Quiana Williams, and Haranda Williams. He also leaves behind a loving extended family, including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Glenn's legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
