In Loving Memory of
Jack Daniel Rossi
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jack Rossi at his son’s home in Highland Park on January 16, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on December 2, 1951, in Chicago, to Phylis Brady and Ernesto Rosucci, Jack was one of three children born into this Irish and Italian family. Jack graduated from Niles West High School in 1970 before earning a bachelor's degree in Business from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota while also playing hard-nosed, collegiate football. He began his professional journey in technology sales but later forged his own path as the owner of Eco Energies, a commercial cleaning service provider at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. Through his work, Jack became known for his dedication, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to excellence.
An avid runner for much of his adult life, Jack found solace and joy in pounding the pavement, whether under the sweltering summer sun or through icy winter conditions. In recent years, his love for running took on new meaning as he passed this passion to his beloved grandson, Milo. Teaching Milo the discipline and joy of running was amazing, and it was just a small part of the beautiful relationship that Jack and Milo shared. Jack was completely dedicated to Milo and his unwavering commitment to love and family was shown a million times over. Along with his sons, this relationship with Milo was one of the shining gems of Jack’s life. Nothing meant more to him than being there for all of his family.
If you were ever at Jack’s home then you most likely heard the timeless songs of The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, or the like, blasting from his speakers. If Jack loved a song, or an album, then he could play it many times in a row and still hold great love for it! Jack also enjoyed playing piano and took great joy in connecting with music in that way. Jack's love for music was a defining part of his life and was always the backdrop for cherished memories with family and friends.
Jack knew that Italian food was the finest food on the planet and that Lou Malnati’s pizza might just be the best example of this. He didn’t just like cheese, he liked extra cheese. And don’t forget cheese cake, that was one of his favorites. He believed in the dream of America, and that we are meant to be a force of good for the whole planet. Jack believed that the power of love is the most powerful force in this universe, and he saw his life as a part of his own unfolding spiritual path. Jack loved reading the teachings from Jesus to modern day spiritual mystics. He studied WWII with great passion and truly appreciated the many examples of the strength of the human spirit that shined through in this dark time.
Of all these things that were parts of Jack, the synopsis of Jack was that he treasured his family. He leaves behind two devoted sons, Matt (Anna) of Highland Park and Jon (Mia) of Bonny Doon, CA, as well as his cherished grandson, Milo Thomas Rossi. Jack is also survived by his twin sister, Jean Grulke of Summerville, SC; his older brother, Dennis (Tam) Rossi of Mexico; his niece, Lindsey (Ryan) Martin of Summerville, SC ; his nephew, Brad (Hilary) Grulke of Tampa, FL; and his niece, Ali Rossi of Questa, NM.
Jack believed in being good to people. He believed in the small things like holding the door for others, and he also believed in showing up and supporting others in big ways when that was what life called for. His quiet and kind presence will be greatly missed by all those who knew Jack. We pray that God blesses him on his next adventure. We will miss you Jack with all our hearts, and we hope to have the faith and understanding to truly know that this is all just a part of the greater plan. See you soon dad. Peace.
