Obituary: Jimmy Daniel Permenter
Jimmy Daniel Permenter, age 76, of Steger, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, November 28, 2024, at the University of Chicago Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois. He was born on February 9, 1948, in Finley, Tennessee, to the late Joseph Perry and Virgie May (Glossier) Permenter. Raised in Tennessee, Jimmy moved to the Chicago metropolitan area as a young man, where he would spend the remainder of his life.
On November 16, 1979, Jimmy married the love of his life, Theresa Lynn Yurasovich, in Markham, Illinois. Together, they celebrated 46 years of love, companionship, and devotion. Throughout his life, Jimmy worked hard to support his family, retiring from Bull Moose Tube after 45 years of dedicated service.
Jimmy was a proud father and grandfather, and his family was his greatest joy. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa, his children: Jimmy Jr., Mark, Robin Permenter (Jamie Velazquez), and Megan Dennis (Anthony Donofrio). He was a cherished grandfather to 12 grandchildren, and a great-grandfather to 9 great-grandchildren. Notably, Jimmy raised his beloved grandson, Bailey Ward and granddaughter Madison Permenter, as his own.
Jimmy is also survived by his sister, Dianne Ireland, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, including Randy, Mark, and Jimmy Lindley, Bobbi Ann (Jerry) Williams, and Tracy Garza. He had a special bond with his niece and nephew, Carolyn (Faron) Cruz and Stevie Patterson, and is survived by many other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Glenda Permenter, and a son, Matthew Permenter. Jimmy was also preceded in death by four brothers: Jerry Paul (Jake) Permenter, Marvin Permenter, Davey Permenter, and Joseph Permenter, Jr.; as well as five sisters: Monette Chase, Gillette French, Margie Permenter, Dewdrop Permenter, and Teresa "Cookie" Robinson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the American Legion, 34 W 34th Street, Steger, Illinois, where family and friends are invited to come together to remember and honor Jimmy's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Jimmy's memory to the family.
Jimmy’s love for his family, his work ethic, and his warm-hearted nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of devotion and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
