Jose Manuel Cruz Salgado

Jose Manuel Cruz Salgado, 58, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026.

Jose was born on July 7, 1968, in Huitzoco, Guerrero, Mexico, to Porfirio Cruz Trujillo and Maria Del Resuglo Salgado Roman. He was the third of six children and was raised with the values of hard work, faith, and devotion to family that remained with him throughout his life.

Jose married the love of his life, Marcela Alonso Millan, in Mexico, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and perseverance. He was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, and had recently begun the joyful journey of becoming a grandfather, a role he embraced with great happiness.

Known for his strong work ethic and dedication, Jose was the owner and operator of Jose Manuel Cruz Landscaping. Through years of hard work and commitment, he earned the respect of his clients, colleagues, and community. He took great pride in providing for his family and approached every day with determination, integrity, and generosity.

Jose is survived by his beloved wife, Marcela Alonso Millan; his children, Jose Manuel Cruz and Enrique (Jacky) Cruz; and his treasured granddaughter, Azalea Cruz.

He is also survived by his siblings, Armando (Bertha) Cruz, Porfirio Cruz, Oscar Cruz, Angelica Cruz, and Salvador (Wendy) Cruz; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Jose also leaves behind his good compadres, Alberto Evencia Ocampo and Lulio (Flora) Gayton, whose friendship meant so much to him throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Porfirio Cruz Trujillo and Maria Del Resuglo Salgado Roman.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood, Illinois 60040.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Our Hope Parish – Saint James Church, 134 North Avenue, Highwood, Illinois. The Christian Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend Hernan Cuevas serving as celebrant.

Though Jose's life was cut short, the love he shared, the family he nurtured, and the example he set through his kindness, dedication, and tireless work will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
