Joseph Eugene Elliott, age 89, of Gurnee, IL, passed away on Wednesday October 4th, 2023, peacefully at his summer home in Lake Delavan, WI. Joseph was born on February 15th, 1934, to David Earl Elliott and Julia Virginia Elliott (nee Shugars) in Cabin John, Maryland. Beloved Husband of 62 years to Suzanne Lorraine Elliott (nee Lohner) and Father of Virginia (Ray) Dudzinski, Karen Elliott-Bonatz, Scott (Rose) Elliott, Todd (Dawn Smaron) Elliott, Kip (Collette) Elliott, Troy (Arlene) Elliott and Chad (Melanie) Elliott. Loving grandfather of 21, great-grandfather of 15, great-great-grandfather of 1. Brother-in-law to Milton Lohner Jr, and uncle of Jason Lohner.
Joe was an avid boater and loved to be on the water. From fishing the intake cribs of Lake Michigan in the 1940’s, to water skiing on the Fox River (Cary, IL) in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, skiing and pleasure boating the chain-o-lakes in the 1980’s, and pleasure boating Delavan Lake, WI from the 1990’s to his final days. Joe met his wife of 62 years, Suzanne, at her father’s Boat Store, Lohner Boat and Motor Sales, on Elston Ave, in Chicago, IL. In the 1950’s.
Visitation will be Monday, October 9th, 2023, at Symonds-Lakes Funeral Home, 111 W. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL. from 3-8pm. A graveside service will be held on October 10th, at Acacia Park Cemetery, 7800 Irving Park Road, Norridge, IL 60706 at 11 A.M. Family and friends will gather directly at the cemetery for the graveside service.
