Josephine Marian Galassini, age 95 of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin formerly of Highwood, Illinois passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022 in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. She was born April 2, 1927 in Highwood, Illinois to the union of Guido and Marianina (Manfredo) Serafini. Raised in Highwood she attended St. James School, graduated from Highland Park High School and received a bachelors degree from Webster University for Girls, Webster Grove, Missouri. Josephine had a long teaching career, teaching 5th and 6th grades at Neal Jr. High School, North Chicago, Illinois for over 20 years. Upon her retirement she taught at the School of Language in Highland Park, Illinois to mostly Japanese business men wanting to profect the English language. Josephine was a member of the Sacred Heart Guild of St. James Church, the former Italian Women's Prosperity Club, Highland Park Women's Club, Modenesa Society, VFW Post 1865 Ladies Auxillary, Kenosha, WI. the Greater Federation of Women's Clubs, the Illinois Italian/American Society of Illinois, Ravinia Festival Board and the Highwood Public Library Board. Josephine received the Highwood Humanitarian of the Year in 1993. Active in the Vicariat II in the greater Chicagoland area and taught CCD at St. James School, Highwood and St. Therese Church in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
Beloved wife of the late Emilio J. "Babe" Galassini on October 31, 2007. Loving mother of Donna (Harold) Saalfeld of Pleasant Prairie, WI and Lisa (Dale) Johnson of New Buffalo, MI, the late Brian Galassini and the late Garry Galassini. Fond grandmother of Samuel Joseph (Samantha) Saalfeld.
Memorial visitation for Josephine and her son Garry will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 9:00 AM until time of memorial mass 10:00 AM at the Saint James Church, 134 North Avenue, Highwood, IL Inurnment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL
