Judith Ann Cullen, age 74, of Lake Forest, Illinois passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Born February 14, 1947 in Nyack, New York to the union of Anthony and Elizabeth (Ontkoc) Santora. Judy attended St. Peters Catholic School in Haverstraw, New York. Graduated from Albertus Magnus High School, Bardonia, New York, class of 1964. Judy received her bachelors degree in education in 1968 from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, New York. Attended Boston University where she received a masters degree in 1983 in education and Loyola University where she received a masters degree in January of 1997 in religious education. On July 20, 1968 at St. Peters Church in Haverstraw, New York Judy married John Francis Cullen, 2Lt., U.S. Army and the couple started their family. As a military family John and Judy moved around the United States and overseas as he served at numerous Army instillations. From 1978 to 1981 John was stationed at Fort Sheridan, he was then sent to Germany with his family, returning in 1984 settling in Lake Bluff, where they made their home for 36 years. Judy taught elementary school children and was the director of religious education at Saint James Church and School in Highwood from 1985 to 2016. Among many awards Judy received the Woman of the Year in 2017 from the Archdiocese of Chicago, the Christifdeles award given to Catholic laypeople who who have excelled in parish service in 2012 and she received the 50-year diabetic medal in 2015 from the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston.
Beloved wife of 53 years to Ret. U.S. Army Lt. Col. John Cullen. Loving mother of Hope Cullen (Reyes Aquino) of Brooklyn, NY. and Sean (Melissa) Cullen of Elmhurst. Fond Nana of Cyerra and Maddie Cullen. Dear sister of Jean Santora of South Portland, Maine.
Judy was a beloved figure at St. James. She loved people and people loved Judy. Judy touched hundreds of lives, expanding their faith and love for each other.
Visitation Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood. Funeral Thursday, July 1, 2021 10:00 A.M. at Saint James Church, 134 North Avenue, Highwood. Rev. Timothy O'Malley, celebrant. Interment will be at the United States Military Academy, West Point Cemetery, 329 Washington Road, West Point, New York.
