Karen Brown

Karen D. Brown, age 72 of Lake Bluff went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on April 6, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Sven and Edith Dahlquist. She was a graduate of George Washington High School, Chicago and attended McMurray College and Eastern Illinois University where she received a degree in Biology. After college she worked in the Department of Histology at the University of Illinois Dental School for several years. On July 29, 1984 at the First United Methodist Church of Hammond, Indiana she married Fredric Hutchins Brown and the couple started their family where she was a stay at home mom. In recent years the couple became empty nesters and Karen started working again as a lab coordinator at Trinity International University in Deerfield.

Karen's lifelong love and devotion to Jesus Christ her savior had always been at the center of her life. Karen and Fred together raised their 3 daughters to love and serve the Lord in the same traditions.  Karen and Fred have been faithful members of Christ Church Lake Forest since 1988 where she sang in the church choir. Karen has devoted many years with the Community Bible Study and numerous women's bible study groups and church small groups.  Her pastime was to playing tennis and volleyball.  Her greatest joy was her 4 beautiful grandchildren which she adored with all her heart.

Beloved wife of Fredric. Loving mother of Christy (Daniel) Lepper of Jacksonville, Illinois, Laura Brown of London, England and Michelle Brown of Gurnee. Fond grandmother of Timothy, Felicity, Elizabeth and Julie Lepper. Dear sister of Lillian (Gerald) Novak of Tinley Park and the late Robert and Betty Harrison and Lois Johnson. Cherished aunt of Brent and Clifton Novak and Angela Gambardella.

Visitation Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood, Illinois.

Funeral service Friday, March 31, 2023 11:00 A.M. at Christ Church Lake Forest, 100 North Waukegan Road, Lake Forest, Illinois with a reception to follow.

Interment will follow later that afternoon at Vernon Cemetery, Lincolnshire, Illinois.
