Leo Paldo Mordini

Leo Mordini, age 96, of Grayslake, IL, formerly of Highwood and Highland Park, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

Leo was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years Celestine Kiesler who he married on July 16, 1960, at St. Pascals Church in Chicago, IL., and his parents Josephine and Pelligrino Mordini.

Leo is survived by his children Tom (Kathy) Mordini, Jim (Lauren) Mordini, and Carolyn (Jeff) Brugioni. His 12 grandchildren Emily (Ben) Warren, Mary Claire (Jack) Crooks, Edward, Patrick, Anthony, and Dominic Leo Mordini and Anne Marie (Drew Silvers) Brugioni, Scott and Eric Leo Brugioni. He is also lovingly remembered by Beverly Carroll whom he loved and cherished.

Leo graduated from Highland Park High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marines.  He continued to serve his country as a past Post Commander and a lifetime member of the Highwood VFW. He was also active in the Highland Park American Legion and the Elks.  Most recently he was a member of the Lake County Marines Detachment 801.  He was a senior Marketing Manager with Ekco Products for over 35 years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed traveling the United States with his family, golfing, being active in the Boy Scouts, and serving as an Alderman in Highwood for over 20 years. He grew the best tomatoes, loved meeting new people, and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. 

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Lee Anne Cyberski, Pat Zuma, and Che Cardona for providing wonderful care and so much love to Leo in his final years. As well as the Lake County Marine Detachment 801, who provided friendship and support to Leo and his family.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home 858 Sheridan Rd. Highwood, IL.,  chapel service at 6:00 PM Fr. Thomas Franzman, officiating, Interment with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, June 24, 2024, at Ascension Cemetery 1920 Buckley Rd, Libertyville, IL.
