Leonard Clarence Raines, Jr. age 69 of Zion, Illinois entered into eternal peace on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Vista Medical Center East, Waukegan, Illinois. He was born July 12, 1951 in Waukegan, Illinois the first born son to the union of Leonard Clarence Raines, Sr. and Jesse Mae Williams. Leonard accepted and acknowledged Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior early in life. Leonard, a long life resident of Lake County he gradulated North Chicago Community High School, went to college, worked and then joined the Navy where he became an aircraft mechanic. Honorably discharged on November 17, 1978 Leonard then returned home to North Chicago, Illinois where he assisted his father in landscaping and he also worked on cars as well.
Leonard loved life and laughter, he was very outgoing and enjoyed eating, playing pranks, jokes, sports, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Leonard will be truly missed for his smile and happy spirit.
Leonard leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Margaret Raines nee: O'Neill. His daughter Stephanie Grace Raines. Two sons Christopher Johnson and Blake Abrams. Five step-sons Phillip, Anthony, Michael, Randall and the late Steven. A brother William (Peggy) Raines. Five sisters Judy B. (Edward) Williams, Louetta (Raymond) Coleman Raines, Mary (Joseph) Johnson, the late Mildred Blanks and the late Ella Graham. Five grandchildren Mechi, Oliver, Olivia, Kristian and Kristianna, a Goddaughter Jashiya Irby and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins and friends.
A graveside service and military honors will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 2:00 P.M. at Fort Sheridan Cemetery, Sheridan Road and Vatman Road, Highwood.
