Lia F. Maddalozzo (née Faoro) age 92, of Norridge, formerly of Highland Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Central Baptist Village in Norridge. Lia was born on September 2, 1932, in Arsié, Belluno, Italy, to the union of Gerardo Faoro and Assunta Billia. On August 22, 1960 in Vincenza, Italy, she married the love of her life, Angelo Maddalozzo. They immigrated to Highland Park in March of 1961 to begin their family.
Lia worked as a seamstress both from her home and for Neiman Marcus in Northbrook Court and Lucille Hillborn in Highland Park. She was deeply involved in her community and was a proud member of Immaculate Conception Church in Highland Park. Lia was also a valued member of several organizations, including the former Women of the Moose (Highland Park Chapter), Cuore Arte, the Italian Women's Prosperity Club, and the Veneti Nel Mondo. In recent years she enjoyed Bingo and extended bus tours with her Golden Agers group.
Lia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Angelo, who passed away in 1987. She is survived by her daughter, Joan (David) Buonopane of Medford, Massachusetts; her son, Gerald (Luciana) Maddalozzo of San Francisco, California; and her cherished grandchildren: Gerald, Michelle, Robert, and Giovanni Maddalozzo, along with her great-grandchildren, Christopher and Lia. Lia will also be dearly missed by her many friends and her extended family, including Kathryn and Mark Semisch and their sons Tim and Paul.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Livio (the late Marcella) Faoro, Licia (the late Luigi) Giusto, and Linda Faoro, all of Italy.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral mass at Christ Our Hope Parish, Immaculate Conception Parish, at 11:00 AM. The Rev. James Merold will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery in Lake Forest.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lia’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Lia will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to her work, and her kindness to all who knew her. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
