In Loving Memory Of
Lidia Diaconu
July 3, 1953 - April 26, 2025
Lidia Diaconu, age 71, of Wheeling, Illinois, entered into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, April 26, 2025, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.
Lidia was born on July 3, 1953, in Snagov, Ilfov, Romania, to Sever and Alexandria Tanase. On July 29, 1978, she was united in matrimony to the love of her life, Costel C. Diaconu, in Bucharest, Romania. Together, they built a Christ-centered home filled with love, prayer, and devotion. On November 28, 1986, trusting in the Lord’s provision, they immigrated to the United States and made a new life in Chicago, later settling in Wheeling.
A faithful servant of Christ, Lidia’s life was a testimony to God’s grace, mercy, and steadfast love. Her heart was anchored in scripture, and she lived each day with the peace and assurance that comes from knowing the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a devoted wife, a loving and nurturing mother, and a joyful grandmother whose prayers covered her family. Her greatest desire was that her children and grandchildren would walk in the truth and know the hope found in Christ alone.
Lidia is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Costel; her two daughters, Roxana (Adrian) Cozariuc of Des Plaines and Christina (Justin) Bellows of Lake Zurich; and her nine precious grandchildren: Phillip (Lauren), Abigail, Ana, and Naomi Cozariuc, and James, Elliana, Luke, Norah, and Adalynn Bellows — all of whom brought her tremendous joy and were constantly lifted up in her prayers. She is also survived by her sisters, Maria Mitroi and Ana Shepherd and brothers Cornel and Gabriel Tanase. She now joins in glory her parents and her brother Daniel.
Lidia’s life radiated the love of Christ. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, humility, and gentle strength. Her family rejoices in the promise of resurrection and the hope that they will one day be reunited with her in the presence of the Lord.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood, Illinois, with a evening worship and remembrance service at 7:00 P.M.
Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 A.M., also at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Wheeling Township Cemetery, 2498–2240 Euclid Avenue, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:20-21
