Loda “GG” Florence Leatherman, nee; Brown, 97, of Genoa City, WI, and formally of Grayslake, IL, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 17, 2022. She was born July 16, 1925 in Elton, Wi and was the second child of four born to the union of Dewey and Bessie Brown. At age 19 she moved to the lakes area of Lake County, IL. She attended cosmetology school receiving her license in 1956, and opened a shop in her home. She worked numerous jobs over her working years which always involved helping and serving others before retiring to Grayslake in 2000.
Loda loved to go garage sailing, playing cards and cooking for her family and friends. She was always the first one there to help everyone wherever she could.
Loda is survived by four of her children; Paul of Burlington, WI. William (Bridget) of Dongola, IL. Renee (Marty) of Genoa City, WI. and Ted (Candy) of Ingleside, IL. 15 Grandchildren; 25 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Edward, 1 Great Granddaughter, 1 sister and 2 brothers.
Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home 111 W. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030, Funeral services (visitation) will be held 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 PM Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the Four Corners Assembly of God Church, N3891 Highway P, (Rt. 64 & Farley Rd.) White Lake, WI, with graveside committal service following the visitation at the Langlade Cemetery, (Rt. 64 & Memorial Dr.) Langlade, WI, for additional information please contact the funeral home at 847-543-1080.
