Lydia (Escala) Yu

Lydia Escala Yu, 83, of Lake Villa, Illinois passed away on February 16, 2025 at the Highland Park Hospital.  She was born on August 3, 1941 to the union of Esteban and Pelagia Escala in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, Philippines.  With a heart full of love, Lydia left her nursing career in the Philippines to migrate to the United States in 1989, reunited with her beloved husband, Ernesto, and eventually retired early to bask in the warmth of family life.

Lydia is survived by her daughters, Aidyl and Agnais of Lake Villa, Illinois; her granddaughter, Giselle Mae; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her loving late husband, Ernesto Yu.

Funeral visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home - 111 W. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, Illinois 60030.  

Church Viewing will also be held on Saturday morning, February 22, 2025 at 9:00 am to 10:00 am in Prince of Peace Catholic Church - 135 S. Milwaukee Avenue, Lake Villa, Illinois 60046.  Funeral Mass will start at 10:00 am.
