Mariana Ionescu

Mariana Ionescu neé Sacalis age 74 of Des Plaines, Illinois when home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 1, 2023 in Morton Grove, Illinois. She was born December 4, 1948 in Bucharest, Romania to the union of Teodor and Floarea (Mica) Sacalis. On August 12, 1976 in Bucharest she married Ioan Ionescu and the couple started their family. On July 1, 1988 the family immigrated to the United States settling in the Chicago area where she worked as a manicurist. Mariana was a proud member of the Romanian Baptist Church of Chicago where she was active in the ladies prayer group and church choir.  A woman with an elegant demeanor, she was outgoing, a true people person with countless friends. Most important thou was her relationship with God, then her husband and children. In the evenings after dinner, Mariana and Ioan would go for hour walks, this was their special time together as a couple. As a family she would also enjoy her times traveling with her husband and children. Her family meant the world to her and like every good wife and mother her kitchen table was the place where her love for them showed. The wonderful meals she would make for them especially her soups was how she expressed that love.

Fond grandmother of Alexandra, Joel and Andrel Badulescu, Emma, Elias, Oliver, Theodore, Alex, Amari, Zavi and Naomi Ionescu. Dear sister of Mircea Sacalis, Daniel Sacalis and Rodica Sacalis, Doina Pavel and Lidia Ciobanu.

Visitation Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 5:00 PM until time of funeral service 6:00 PM at the Romanian Baptist Church of Chicago, 484 E. Northwest Highway, Des Plaines, IL Pastor Adrian Neiconi, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, November 6. 2023 at the Ridgewood Cemetery, 9900 North Milwaukee Avenue, Des Plaines, Illinois in Section 181 lot 2091.
