Marie Therése Dominique Rogers

Marie Therése Dominique Rogers, a loving, caring, affectionate mother, passed away in hospice care at the age of 73 on May 10th, 2023, in Chicago, IL. Therése, as she was known to many, was born on February 16th, 1950, in Port-Au-Prince Haiti. She is survived by her six children, Jacques, Kathy, Rony, France, Francoise, Fritz, and three grandchildren, Karah, Kaden and Kendall.  Therse had three siblings, two older sisters and a younger brother. She was a devoted mother who would do anything for her children. It is this devotion to her children, and some convincing from her late husband, Philip, which propelled her to leave her life and close-knit family behind in Haiti and immigrate to the United States in the winter of 1991 to provide them a better life and brighter future. She often stated how she would not have come to the states if it were not for her children. Even in her later years, as she was living in a nursing home, unable to work, and unable to speak English, she lamented the fact that she could not provide for her children who were all grown and doing well enough to provide for themselves. Some thirty-two years after making that sacrifice, Therése has finally gone home. Though she will be missed, she will never be forgotten. May she never have to worry about the safety and wellbeing of her children again and may she rest in eternal peace.
