Miguel Sanchez

Miguel Sanchez, age 78 of Chicago passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Journeycare Inpatient unit at Rush University Medical Center. He was born January 29, 1942 in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 14 and worked in various factories in his lifetime, including a Zenith plant.  He was a man who enjoyed to tinker with watches and cars.  He had a routine of being the first person up in the house, making the coffee and watching the news on tv, from there he would give the family the news with his own twist as they woke up and had their morning coffee.  One special thing he would do is on Sunday he would give his great grandchildren $5.00 each. Mike had a sweet tooth, one of his favorite bakeries was Ideal Pastry Shop in Chicago's NW Side on Milwaukee Ave where he would routinely bring home kolachke and shop at the many Polish deli's along Milwaukee Avenue.

Beloved husband of Lourdes Sanchez. Dear father of Irma (Wayne) Stilwell, Patricia Lara, Christina Lara (David Sundquist) and Clementine Lara. Fond grandfather of 12, great grandfather of 15, great great grandfather of 3. Dear brother of Carmen Sanchez, Fond Uncle of Iris.  Mike raised one of his grandsons, Julius Lara-Sundquist who has been the apple of Mike's eye, for he molded this young man into the man he is today. Mike spent most of his days sitting on the porch and watching his 4 great grandchildren (Summar, Noah, Everett and Deen) play in the yard. The times spent with these great grandchildren were the highlight of his days and he would frequently call them the Kings and Queen of the house.
