Nancy Moretti Obituary

Nancy Ann Moretti (née Cantagallo)

October 22, 1929 – November 7, 2024

Nancy Ann Moretti (née Cantagallo), age 95, of Highwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in Naples, Florida.

Nancy was born on October 22, 1929, in Highwood, IL, the oldest child of John and Rose (Viti) Cantagallo. A lifelong resident of Highwood, she graduated from Mallinckrodt High School in Willmette and was a dedicated member of St. James Church in Highwood. She also contributed her time and talents to the Sacred Heart Guild of St. James Church.

On June 27, 1953, Nancy married the love of her life, Anthony “Tony” Moretti, at St. James Church in Highwood. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and joy. Nancy worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, Mike's Shoes in Highland Park, where she shared a strong work ethic and a warm, welcoming spirit with all who entered the store. One of her greatest joys was spending time with Tony, especially on the dance floor, where they would share the kind of graceful, effortless connection that defined their nearly 65 years of marriage.

Nancy was a loving and devoted mother to Dr. Anthony (Michelle Haugen) Moretti of St. Charles, IL; Robert (Veda) Moretti of Bellevue, WA; Peggy (Frank) Bruni of Naples, FL; and Terry (Karen) Moretti of Issaquah, WA. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Anthony (Amy) Moretti of Los Angeles, CA; Vincent Moretti of Naperville, IL; Robert Moretti of Redmond, WA; Dr. Amy (Milan) Compton of Redmond, WA; Daniel (Danielle Lang) Moretti of Bellevue, WA; Monica Moretti of Issaquah, WA; and Laura (Clay) Conrad of Lynnwood, WA. She was also a delighted great-grandmother to Olivia, Elliott, and Jeremy Compton of Redmond, WA.

Nancy was a beloved sister to Teresa "Terry" (the late James) Swarthout of Lake Forest, IL and Rosemary (Richard) Turelli of Nashville, TN. She was a cherished aunt and friend to many.
