Obituary for Norma Jean Ori (née Grandi)
Norma Jean Ori (née Grandi) passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024, at Lake Forest Hospital. She was born on June 24, 1933, in Highwood, Illinois, to the loving union of Arthur and Savina (Amidei) Grandi.
Norma attended Oak Terrace School in Highwood and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1951. She began her career as a saleslady at Roberts Clothing Store in Highwood, where her warm spirit and dedication to service shone brightly.
On September 6, 1952, Norma married the love of her life, Leo Ori, at Saint James Church in Highwood. Together, they celebrated 71 wonderful years of marriage before Leo's passing on December 3, 2023. Norma was a proud member of Saint James Church, where she actively participated in the Sacred Heart Guild and the church choir. She was also an enthusiastic member of the Highwood Bocci Ball Club.
Norma was a devoted mother to Arthur (Helen), Ronald (Darlene), and Richard Ori. She took great joy in being a grandmother to Michael (Kristin), Amanda (Scott Monfre), Mark (Debbie), Bianca, Savina (Steven) Solomon, Vanessa, and Geneva. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren, Billy, Lucy, Celia, and Sutton, who brought her immense joy.
She was also a dear sister to the late Betty Lou (Domenic) Brugioni.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood, Illinois. Friends are invited to gather on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00 AM at Christ Our Hope Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 770 Deerfield Road, Highland Park. Entombment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, 1920 Buckley Road, Libertyville, Illinois.
Norma's spirit, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
