Patricia Jean Centella

Patricia Jean "Patti" Centella, nee: Reddington, 72 of Grayslake, IL, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.  She was born August 11, 1952 in Chicago, IL and was the oldest of six children born to the union of James and Patricia Reddington. 

Patti was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Her genuine care and concern for others left a lasting impact on all those who knew her. She was a passionate middle school teacher for 25 years. First at Maple School in Northbrook and then Carl Sandburg Middle School in Mundelein. Patti was an avid reader, history buff, and member of a neighborhood book club. She was a member of Saint Gilbert Parish in Grayslake for many years. When she wasn’t spending time with family and friends Patti loved to be active, especially biking.

Patti is survived by her children; Jimmy (Katie) Centella of Grayslake, Brian (Anna) Centella of Grayslake, and Colleen (Jelani) Floyd of Oak Park, her grandchildren; David, Brooklyn, Addison, Benjamin, and Nyla, her sister; Kathleen (Steve) Twigg of Rockford, her brother; Thomas (Nancy) Reddington of Scottsdale, AZ, and her brother in law; Ed (Dianne) Murray of Arlington Heights, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, preceded in death by her loving husband David Centella, brothers; Michael and James Reddington, and her sister; Diane Murray.

Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home 111 W. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030, and 9:00 AM Wednesday morning July 2, at St. Gilbert Catholic Church 301 E. Belvidere Rd. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, with interment to follow at the Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. For additional information please contact the funeral home at 847-543-1080
