Paul Petro

Peter Paul Petro, 84, of Grayslake, IL and formerly of Glen Ellyn, IL and Mobile, AL, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Condell Medical Center of Libertyville, IL. He was born in 1940 in Mobile, AL, and was the eldest of six children born to the union of Peter and Mary Petro. Paul, as he was known, graduated from Spring Hill College and went on to attend the University of Alabama, where he received his MS and PhD in Chemistry, and also met the love of his life, Alice Stalcup. They married in 1965 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Mobile, AL. Paul went on to become the President of Plexco in Bensenville, IL, which later became Performance Pipe, a subsidiary of Chevron Phillips, based in Richardson, TX. He retired in 2003 and moved to Grayslake, IL.

Paul is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice Petro, nee: Stalcup of Grayslake, IL. He was a proud father to his sons, the late John (Cynthia) Petro of Downers Grove, IL, Chris (Karen) Petro of Naperville, IL, and daughter, Anne (Vyt) Tamulaitis of Gurnee, IL, and a loving grandfather to Ethan, Zoe, Daniel, and Kaitlyn Petro, and Alex and Joseph Tamulaitis. He was loved by his brothers and sister; the late Louis (Sylvia) Petro of Mobile, AL, Tony (Linda) Petro of Simpsonville, SC, Gene (Elizabeth) Petro of Mobile, AL, Rosemarie Leitner of Atlanta, GA, and Rick Petro of Atlanta, GA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; Peter and Mary Petro, his son John, and his brother Louis.
