Ramon Ruona Obituary

Ramon L. Ruona of Northbrook, IL passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at the age of 88 in Highland Park, IL. He was born on April 17, 1935, in Sturgis, South Dakota to Emil and Rebecca (Merritt) Ruona. Ray is preceded in death by his son Michael Merritt Ruona and survived by His wife Arlene and son Matthew daughter in-law Kellye, nieces, nephews, and his grandchildren.

Ray served 4 years in the US Army and US Army Reserves.  After his discharge from the US Army, he attended and graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston IL.  After graduating Ray worked for Arthur Andersen & Co. where he became partner and worked until his retirement.  Ray was recognized expert in government contract accounting, cost and pricing matters. Aside from being a great Andersen partner, he was a wonderful person and friend, and a mentor to countless people throughout his career.  Working at Arthur Andersen allowed Ray to travel the world and have many exciting experiences.

Ray was an avid angler and enjoyed camping any family vacation time taken was dedicated to these pursuits in the US and Canada.  Ray also enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball, putting his knee out throwing them countless pitches on the weekends.

After retirement Ray and Arlene enjoyed traveling, taking many River cruises in the US and Europe.

Ray will be missed by his family and friends.

 

A celebration of the life of Ramon Ruona will be held on
