Robert Vincent Stanley, Jr.

Robert Vincent Stanley, Jr., age 89, of Lake Forest passed away May 11, 2023 at the Captain James Lovell Veteran's Hospital in North Chicago. Born February 8, 1934 at the Alice Home Lake Forest Hospital to the union of Robert Vincent and Sophia Marian (Danuis) Stanley.

Graduated from Lake Forest High School class of 1952 and attended Illinois State University. While at Illinois State University he met and then married Ann Sowers.  In 1956, he was drafted into the US Army stationed at Fort Belvoir, VA.,  where he worked as a helicopter mechanic,  responsible for evacuating the Pentagon, White House and government buildings. Robert served until October 7, 1958 attaining the rank of PFC. He worked as a cement mason for the Plasters and Cement Finishers Union Local 506 for many years. Robert was an avid golfer and enjoyed any moment he could be on the course. In his spare time he could be found collecting antiques. He was very involved with Alcoholics Anonymous and was a sponsor for many years to many people.  

Loving father of Robert V. (Lora) Stanley III of Naperville, IL, Patrick L. (Lisa) Stanley of Libertyville, IL, Michael T. (Karen) Stanley of Grayslake, IL, Lisa A. (Marc) Orr of Fort Collins, CO, and Nancy A. (Sam) Greco of Lake Forest, IL. Beloved grandfather to Nicolette (Connor) Glisson, Jackie Stanley, Jamie (Nick) Lazechko, Jessica Stanley, Jake Stanley, Shannon Stanley, Shane Stanley, Hannah Stanley, Grace Stanley, Foster Orr, Quinton Orr, Samantha Orr, Gianni Greco, Vanessa Greco, and Anthony Greco.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert V., Sr. and Sophia Stanley and his sister Evelyn Mahen.

Visitation Friday, May 19, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Service Saturday, May 20, 2023 10:00 A.M. at the Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood, IL Interment and Military Honors will follow at Ascension Cemetery, 1920 Buckley Road, Libertyville.
