Robert Thomas Sublette, Sr., age 86, of Evanston Illinois passed away on September 4, 2023. He was born on August 5, 1937 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the union of Frank Ellis Sublette, Sr. and Lillian Benjamin. At nine years old Bob was too young to be in the Boy Scouts but, he went on to be troops mascot. As he grew he attained the honor of an Eagle Scout award. He graduated from Crane Technical Prep High School in Chicago and was active in the ROTC. After high school he then enlisted in the United States Air Force. In January of 1965 Bob married Jessie M. Payne at Saint Marks United Methodist Church. Bob worked for Dean Whitter and was the chauffeur for the President of Northwestern University of Evanston, Illinois. He was also a cab driver for 'Best Taxi' in Evanston and was cab #60. Years later Robert branched out and owned of his own private taxi service.
Within the last 10 months of his life, Bobs life's course took an interesting detour. He was united with his son(Roger), which he never knew existed during his Air Force years and was found through Ancestry.com. A lifetime of memories have been shared, cried over, laughed over and a loving union happened.
Beloved father to Roger (Janet) Agpawa of Markham IL, Germaine R. Sublette of Chicago, IL, and Robert Sublette Jr. of Evanston, IL. Loving grandfather to Domonique Williams, Keesha Harris, Keith Payne, Justin (Ashley) Agpawa, and Matthew Agpawa. Dear great grandfather to Asa Agpawa. Cherished brother to Gwen Wright of Chicago, IL, the late Sara Blanchard and Frank E. Sublette Jr. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Pre-Past will take place from 8:30 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. Visitation will be starting at 9:30 A.M. till 10:30 A.M. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 A.M. at St Mark United Methodist church 8441 South Saint Lawrence Avenue, Chicago , IL, 60619. Graveside service & Military Honors to follow at 1:00 P.M. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421
