Ruth Anne Winsky

Ruth Anne Winsky passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 77. Ruth was born on October 21, 1947, in Pontiac, Illinois, to Carl and Frances (Gassler) Wilkins. Ruth graduated from Ela Vernon High School in the Class of 1963, where she sang in the school choir and first discovered her lifelong love of song and connection.

In 1975, she married the love of her life, Marvin Winsky, and together they built a life full of warmth, devotion, and simple joys. Ruth’s professional journey reflected her strong work ethic and love of people. She began working at Woolworth department store before joining the teams at Dunbrook Pharmacy in Northbrook and Half Day Pharmacy in Half Day, Illinois. She later spent a decade at Skokie Valley Cleaners in Highwood and many years at Majestic Cleaners in Vernon Hills, where she was known for her reliability, kind nature, and strong relationships with customers. 

Ruth had many passions that brought joy to her daily life. She was an avid reader, never far from a good book. Crossword puzzles were a favorite pastime, showcasing her sharp mind and love of language. She delighted in the small pleasures — getting her hair and makeup done was something she always looked forward to, embracing the chance to feel her best and enjoy a little pampering.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband Marvin, her parents Carl and Frances, and her brothers Carl Wilkins and Mark Wilkins. She is survived by her loving siblings Sheila Vickers of Round Lake, Margaret Kropp of Round Lake, and John (Tracey) Wilkins of McHenry. She was a devoted and proud aunt, especially to Melissa Vickers and Betty Jo Golladay, two very special nieces who held a cherished place in her heart. She is also lovingly remembered by many other nieces and nephews whose lives she touched with warmth and generosity. Ruth’s love and kindness extended to many others, and her memory will live on in the lives she touched.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Vernon Cemetery 15215 Cemetery Rd, Lincolnshire, IL 60069.
