Ettore Sante Carani "Sam" age 75 of Highland Park was born June 2, 1948 to Antonio and Maria (Pasquesi) Carani near Pievepelago, Modena, Italy. When Sam was eight years old, the family immigrated to Highland Park, Illinois. Sam attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and Carmel High School. Over the years, Sam made several trips back to Italy to visit family. He spent 35 years of his working career at Sunset Food, retiring in 2013. Sam was a thoughtful, caring and considerate man. He had a quick wit, a ready laugh and a smile that lit his entire face. His family and friends were the center of his life. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. It was our fortune to know and love him.
He is survived by his brother Ferruccio "Fred" (Claudia) Carani, 3 nieces Sara, Gina and Carla Carani all of Leavenworth, Washington. His cousins Luciano and Gianna Carani, Adele McCarthy, Walter and Bella Bernardi, Leo and Marianne Zanotti, Larry and Kathy Zanotti, Oswald and Christy Pasquesi and Larry and Marilyn Pasquesi. Also his dear close friend Carol Shraiberg.
He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Maria Carani.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at Christ Our Hope Parish Immaculate Conception Campus on June 8th of 2024, at 10am, celebration of life to follow. Interment will be at Saint Mary Cemetery, Highland Park. Please check back to Sam's obituary page for dates and times.
